A heavy equipment operator is a construction worker who is specifically responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy machinery such as loaders, dump trucks, excavators and graders. The heavy equipment operator ensures that the machine he will use is in good condition and then follows all relevant procedures and protocols when in use. The operator may be asked to get involved in how certain equipment is used on a construction site and is required to provide all notices.
