He was appointed Senior Circuit Judge in 2004 and worked at the High Court as a judge of the London Mercantile Court until 2015, dealing with commercial, administrative and other civil law matters. He continues to work in the fields of justice, arbitration and pro bono. Mediation: Accredited by CEDR and ADR Group, David`s mediation experience includes commercial contractual disputes, conflicting debt and property disputes, and workplace disputes. He is a member of the Public Service Mediation Service Committee and mcAdam Mediation. He is known for his empathetic approach and ability to deal with problems quickly. Legal: As a litigation manager at a law firm in central London from 1984 to 1988, David was involved in various commercial litigation in the areas of intellectual property, employment, property, corporate affairs and civil fraud. When he became a partner in a municipal law firm in 1988, he specialized in maritime and cargo litigation for clients in Scandinavia, North America and Western Europe. He has been a senior lawyer in the UK central government since 2001 and is responsible for handling a wide range of public law trials on issues such as the hunting ban, animal testing and rendition and allegations of torture at Guantanamo Bay. More recently, he has focused on transactional work for the government`s strategic ICT and energy projects, which typically include negotiated procurement procedures and joint venture structures. Business: David`s business experience includes membership in a property investment firm and one of the UK`s leading classical orchestras.
David`s experience in the public sector has focused on handling complex and high-profile public law claims involving most of the UK`s key government departments. His many years of experience as a lawyer and mediator allow him to work successfully in a wide variety of issues and industries. With particular expertise in commercial and public law, his experience in dispute resolution and as a transaction advisor includes both the private and public sectors. He is fluent in French and a significant part of his work in private practice has been for international clients. His honor David Mackie CBE KC went to Oxford University and graduated as a lawyer in England in 1971. From 1975 to 2004, he was a partner at Allen & Overy (and from 1988 in charge of litigation). In 1988 he became a part-time judge in the Criminal Courts and in 1998 in the High Court of London. In 1998, he was appointed QC. In 2004, Judge Mackie was awarded the CBE for his volunteer work. In 2002, he became Chairman of the Financial Services and Markets Tribunal in the UK.
