All aspects of the medical principles of care and forensic assessment of persons in contact with the judicial system are examined and the journal has a broad international perspective. The International Journal of Legal Medicine aims to improve scientific resources used in solving crimes and related forensic applications to a high standard of evidence. The journal offers review articles that follow developments in specific areas, with up-to-date analyses; Original articles on important current research findings; case reports describing interesting and exceptional examples; Letters; and technical notes that appear in a section originally created for the rapid publication of data in the dynamic field of DNA analysis. The journal welcomes submissions of original research, review articles and relevant case studies, editorials and commentaries in relevant areas of forensics, practice context, education and training. The recent increase in the volume of papers submitted in 2019/20 means that the Journal of Forensic and Legal Medicine has the second highest submission rate in the Elsevier family of forensic journals after Forensic Science International. Professor Duijst currently works as a coroner and is also a professor of forensic medicine and criminal (and health) law. The Journal of Forensic and Legal Medicine publishes recent articles on aspects of forensic and forensic pathology. It is a fully peer-reviewed hybrid journal with a broad international perspective.
