There are several acceptable forms of identification in the United States, all of which are government-issued identification that people can obtain from the respective government offices or agencies. Identity documents in the United States include: the driver`s license or ID card issued by the regional government, the Social Security card (or Social Security number), and the United States passport card. All three can be used nationally as a form of identification. To travel to Canada, Bermuda, the Caribbean and Mexico, U.S. citizens can use the passport card, but for all other international travel, they must have a valid, unexpired passport. Acceptable primary proof of identity in the United States includes original or certified documents containing a person`s full name and date of birth. In addition to the main forms of identification in the United States, there are also secondary forms of identification. For a person, minor or adult, to receive for the first time a type of identification from the AZ MVD, the person must present at least 2 pieces of identification. If the applicant had an AZ-ID after 1994, no identification is required. A form must be a birth certificate, usually a birth certificate, passport or active or retired military ID, these forms contain the legal name and date of birth of the person. The 2nd or 3rd form is considered secondary. Secondary is usually a Social Security card, a bank card, a medical card, pretty much anything in a standard wallet with the person`s name. All documents must contain the same name, unless accompanied by a court certificate, marriage certificate or divorce decree. Below I`ve put together a short matrix that might help.
