Not long ago, I discovered the Paleo stuffing in the hot bar at Whole Foods. Of course, this piqued my curiosity because I had never heard of paleo filling. Fortunately, Whole Foods releases its ingredients. It sounds delicious. However, farm cheese is not on the list of legal or illegal sickle cell disease. How do you know it doesn`t contain lactose? I understand that this cheese is similar to ricotta, which is illegal. I`m thinking of doing it for Thanksgiving this year. I have a question about dry wormwood. I`m on SCD and I can`t have refined sugar. Wormwood is enriched with herbs and sugar. I believe it`s illegal on SCD. Even dry wormwood contains 5% sugar.

Can it be omitted or is it really necessary for the recipe? Can you just use a dry white wine? Christmas is fast approaching and I was craving a proper topping! I just did this and it smells and tastes delicious! Thank you Carmen for another garish recipe!!! I won`t feel so disadvantaged now! I didn`t stuff a turkey or chicken with it, but it worked like a baked dish. It may seem a little strange to have a meat-based topping when you`re already eating turkey (or another type of meat), but the flavors are all there and that makes it good. It looks so filling and delicious!! I love a good topping and I don`t have a recipe yet!! Thanks for sharing, and cranberries will complete it for sure! Definitely for the family! Your best!! It`s great, I LOVE filling, but I went gluten-free not so long ago and I can`t eat gluten-free bread because startches are causing my blood sugar to skyrocket. If I replace the sausage with bacon, I think it will be pretty close to what our family thanks every year!!! For a bit of nostalgia, I used my grandmother`s recipe, which is simple but has a lot of flavor. You can use regular ground pork or, for added flavor, remove the intestines from the pork sausages and break the filling with your hands before cooking. Since the sausage is already cooked, this topping only needs to be cooked long enough for the cauliflower to tender and boil the egg, which helps bind the mixture, which takes no more than 30 minutes. What a great garnish recipe. I love the idea of making it from scratch and the colorful variety of ingredients makes it a fantastic recipe for the holidays! Absolute winner! My son has to go on an SCD diet and several ingredients listed for filling are not SCD ok. Guar gum, potato starch and baking powder are not allowed.

You should also be very careful when choosing broth. Please consider removing the SCD portion of the label from this recipe. People with IBD who cook for those on a sickle cell diet with colitis/Crohn`s disease would appreciate it. The thank-you stuffing is my favorite part of a turkey meal and a dish that I`ve really missed since I`ve been grain-free. I experimented with a few different topping recipes with almond flour bread and found that the effort of baking the bread and then topping wasn`t worth the end result. So I turned to the world`s most versatile vegetable, cauliflower, to create a breadless, low-carb alternative. I know some people are a little put off by the idea of filling from scratch, but you can do it! It`s not as intimidating as it sounds, and I`ve broken it down into a few painless steps to make things a little easier. Place the filling in a well-buttered baking dish and sprinkle the extra 2 tablespoons of butter on top. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350° for 35 minutes. Reveal and bake for 15 minutes until golden brown. I made my first Thanksgiving meal this year and this topping was a hit!! I made my own gluten-free bread due to food sensitivities, but everything else was made according to this recipe.

So good!! Tips: -Feel free to use one of our bread recipes for this recipe. We have a paleo option, a vegan option, and a scd/keto option. Be sure to add the 2 tablespoons of Italian spices to your bread mix before baking). -You can find our paleo sauce recipe under the garnish recipe. -This filling can be prepared the day before and placed in the oven 35 minutes before serving. -Feel free to add your family`s favorite ingredients like vegan sausage and/or pecans! -Make sure to cool your bread to 100% before cutting it into croutons. -Add the freshly chopped parsley as a nice filling before serving. I did this filling for the first time last year and it was so good.

It tasted the same as the original. I made the bread about two days in advance, and then baked the vegetarian sausage mix on Thanksgiving morning. I gathered everything in the morning. It seemed so “fresh” to me. This year, however, I freeze separately and build and bake on Thursdays. I hope this helps. I don`t know. I think it depends on how much time you have. Thank you, Amy! One last question, do we use all the bread in the recipe for the garnish? I measured mine, and it was a little over six cups. Here`s my favorite gluten-free Thanksgiving topping recipe. I did this a few years ago when I started the carb-specific diet and everyone at the table thought it was just a general topping filled with gluten.

To their surprise, they discovered that the bread was cereal-free! I`ve tweaked a few things this year and he just passed the taste test with my husband and in-laws, so he`s a winner. I will serve it to 8 guests this year, who usually eat a diet filled with cereal/gluten. Thank you, my dear friend!! I, too, could honestly eat this topping for Christmas dinner and be a very happy girl, ha. 😉 I really hope you love it! I made the bread with Greek yogurt this Thanksgiving, no problems at all and everyone loved the topping, even my paleo-shy husband:) I do it every year! It`s so amazing! My family prefers it to bread filling This garnish is best when cooked in a separate dish and not in turkey, so the cauliflower is cooked but not mushy, and the top becomes brown and crispy. Quick question! Do you cook the stuff if you want to stuff the turkey with it or do you skip that part and cook it in turkey? Also, I used goat cheese and it came out amazing! Try it a bit and it reminds me of cookies at Red Lobster, although much better! 🙂 Hello! I see you`ve linked different options for making the bread, but I`m a little confused – in the topping recipe itself, the ingredients you listed for croutons all seem to be vegan. Is that correct, or is there a lack of chewing gum to hold it together, or eggs or something? So excited to try this – thank you! Hi Gillian. Farmer cheese is listed as legal in the book on page 184. This is the dry cottage cheese that Elaine is talking about. The brand I found in my area is called Friendship Farmer`s Cheese, but it mentions Western Dairy.

This cauliflower topping is a delicious low-carb alternative to the traditional topping that uses cauliflower florets instead of bread. It`s packed with pieces of pork, mushrooms, and celery and makes a great addition to your Thanksgiving spread. It is grain-free, Keto, Whole30, Paleo and SCD. That`s right, making homemade trim isn`t as difficult as most people think, I have to give it to you, this trim sounds and looks fantastic! This might show up at my dining table on 24*Note: Some have had problems with the dough for this recipe. 🙂 I remove the yogurt note as I`m sure the bread will work with farmhouse cheese (dry cottage cheese). One reader told me they had thick Greek yogurt and success, but I never tried it myself. I also made this recipe with Elana`s Pantry`s paleo bread, so if you want, you can subaf this bread instead. Happy Sunday! We wanted to bring you this super delicious cereal-free recipe in time for the holidays. It can be a crazy ride, so it`s always good to know what you`re working with ahead of time!:) Our delicious Paleo sauce is also included according to the topping recipe below! Hi Shannon, thanks for your comment.
